Wood Floor Problems Q & A
This is Where to Help and Be Helped!
You are here with wood floor problems or choices
because you care. Congratulations! So are the rest of us! And the entire Conservancy Community is here to help.
The best wood floor advice comes from old floor guys. As one of those elite, I keep a very special list entitled
"100 Ways To Wreck a Wood Floor" Volume 1
Think you might have a new one for the Ol' Director? As a matter of fact, I am starting Volume 2 so... Let me hear it! (in a 1000 words or less, please.)
Just added to my list:
(and I add one a month, or so)
November 2010
Wood Floor Takes a "Beading"
October 2010
A Squeak Tragedy in 3 Acts
September 2010
"The Summer Wind Came Blowin' In" MY SCREEN DOOR!
August 2010
Henna Tattoo Session Without Drop Cloth Results in Tattoo-ed Floor
Pets and kids show up often on the list.
Moisture is a popular problem, either as an interior environmental quality (IEQ) issue, or some event:
"My
dishwasher leaked,
my washing machine overflowed, the supply line to my icemaker broke."
And of course, almost without exception, "the water damaged our wood floor," when... "we were out of town." SO...
Have (or had) a wood floor problem?
This Conservancy "pays it forward", so to speak. As a community we talk about our problems
not to celebrate them by one upping each other,
(although, many stories are sadly humorous, I must admit,)
but to hopefully help some unsuspecting floor owner prevent a problem before it happens.
It's truly bad news that you are in such good company.
The good news is your solution starts here!
Tell The Wood Floor Conservancy community about your problem. Show us, if you can.
Yes, I will look up to give you my advice. But this old floor guy isn't done learning, you know.
Chances are good someone has been where you are and has even more sage wisdom to offer.
And again, this is so important I'm going to repeat it:
You may prevent someone's wood floor problem before it happens! Please take this opportunity to
help as you are being helped! We're in this together, right?
(Providing your location is not required but it is helpful, all things considered. Often the process of elimination in solving a problem requires some knowledge of your climate. Your call.)
